the meadow

The Keeper's Promise

Every plot in this meadow is kept. That is the whole idea, so we will say it plainly:

We will never delete a memorial.

Not for non-payment. A place in the meadow is free, and there is nothing to lapse. Not for inactivity. A grave does not stop mattering because no one has visited in a while. Not to make room. Not ever.

Honesty requires one short list, so here it is. A memorial can be removed only if:

Nothing else can remove a memorial. No missed payment, no closed account, no passage of time. And if one is ever removed under this list, its address is never given to another. A quiet marker remains.

Your memories are not training data.

Search engines and AI assistants are welcome to find and cite the meadow. That is how new families find their way here. But we block the crawlers that harvest content to train AI models. What you lay to rest here is not raw material.

The meadow never writes first.

We send the practical things: your key when you ask for it, a receipt when you buy something, a notice in the rare case the keeper must act on your plot. Beyond that, silence, unless you've told the keeper you'd like to hear when someone leaves something at a plot you tend. Like any cemetery, we don't call you. You visit when you're ready.

Your memorial is yours.

Any plot you tend can be downloaded as a complete archive, any time, for nothing.

And if the meadow itself should ever end?

We planned for that on the first day. The grounds are built so they can be preserved exactly as they stand, every plot and every word, for a few dollars a month, indefinitely. Closing the gates would not mean losing the graves.
